Charleston County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, release anyone, post bond, or pull an official booking record or photo. Contact the government office that holds the record for an official answer.
Official Charleston County Contacts
For an adult custody search or a county-held booking record, start with a verified Charleston County Sheriff’s Office channel. The office operates the official adult Inmate Search. Written requests for records or booking photographs belong with the Public Information Office / FOIA, not a municipal police department. The official sources reviewed do not publish separate PIO records-office hours, so confirm availability with the office before visiting.

Published FOIA fees are subject to a written estimate, exemptions, redaction, and change. The CCSO FOIA form and fee schedule is the current source for a request. Use the correct custodian for each question:
- For current adult custody, a past county booking, or an official booking-photo path, use the Inmate Search and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office PIO/FOIA route described on the home page.
- For a possible warrant, use the official sheriff warrant route summarized under Most Wanted Fugitives; an online result is not confirmation that a warrant is active.
- For a later case status or disposition, use the Charleston County Public Index and the appropriate court rather than a booking entry.
- For a city-originating police record, use the Charleston Police Department FOIA portal, the North Charleston FOIA portal with Police selected, or Mount Pleasant’s documents request portal.
- For a person currently sentenced to state prison, use the SCDC Incarcerated Inmate Search; it is not a county booking search.
- For a custody-status notification or release alert, use SC VINE. It supplements an official search and does not provide booking photographs.
- For federal custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator. An immigration detainer question is governed by the applicable agency and is not established by a county booking result.
